Yilin Zhang

 

Yilin Zhang, age 14, has been playing the flute since 2018. She currently studies with Rose Johnson in Seattle, Washington.

Yilin has participated in Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestras and Collaborative Musicians’ Project Youth Ensemble Program since 2019. She participated in the Seattle Flute Society’s Horsfall Competition Lower Division, winning Honorable Mention in 2021, and First Place in 2022. She placed as a finalist in the Seattle Young Artist Music Festival Concerto Competition in 2022 and 2023. Yilin won First Place in the National Flute Association Junior Soloist Competition in 2023.

Yilin performed in a masterclass for Jacqueline Cordova-Arrington in 2022. She also attended Bonita Boyd’s Masterclass camp (The Artistic Flute) in 2022. In 2023, she worked with Amy Porter at MPulse and Jill Felber, Claudia Anderson, Angelita Floyd, and Nicole Molumby at Passion Flute. She has also taken lessons with Zart Dombourian-Eby.

Outside of flute playing, Yilin enjoys snowboarding, figure skating, playing some violin, and making crafts. She has a pet rabbit named Brownie.

Yilin plays on a Haynes 5% Gold flute.
