Wonpyo Lee is Principal Flute of the Boulder Philharmonic and Associate Principal/Second Flute of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic Orchestra, while also serving as a premier band flutist and piccoloist with the United States Air Force Academy Band at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado.

Previously, Lee held principal flute positions with the Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra, Garland Symphony Orchestra, and Symphony Arlington in Texas. An active soloist, chamber musician, orchestral performer, and educator, he has appeared with ensembles including the Abilene Philharmonic, Berkeley Symphony, Colorado Symphony, Dallas Wind Symphony, Fort Collins Symphony, Fort Worth Symphony, Round Rock Symphony, San Francisco Contemporary Players, and South Dakota Symphony Orchestra. He has also been selected as a flute fellow at the Brevard Music Center, Eastern Music Festival, and Music Academy of the West, where he performed under the direction of Elim Chan, Stéphane Denève, Gustavo Dudamel, JoAnn Falletta, Keith Lockhart, José Luis Novo, Larry Rachleff, and Gerard Schwarz.

Lee’s teaching experience includes serving as Instructor of Flute at the University of Texas at Dallas School of Arts and Humanities and as a Teaching Fellow in Flute at the University of North Texas College of Music. He also taught in a private flute studio in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex with Monica Song, his former teacher and a leading flute pedagogue in Dallas. As a former board member of the Texas Flute Society, he served as clinic coordinator and co-festival chair of the Texas Flute Festival.

A prizewinner in numerous prestigious competitions, Lee has received top honors in the National Flute Association Young Artist Competition, NFA Orchestral Audition Competition, Young Texas Artists Music Competition, Seattle Flute Society Young Artist Competition, Chicago Flute Club Solo Artist Competition, Myrna Brown Artist Competition, and Mid-South Flute Society Young Artist Competition. He was also a participant in the ninth Kobe International Flute Competition in Japan.

Lee holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Texas at Austin, a Master of Music degree from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, and a Professional Studies Diploma from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. His principal teachers include Timothy Day, Marianne Gedigian, Marina Piccinini, Dr. James Scott, Monica Song, and Terri Sundberg.
