Chen Xu

 

Chen Xu was born in Beijing. He began his study of piano with professor Taihang Du at the Central Conservatory of Music at the age of 5.

Later he attended the Conservatory Attached Middle School majoring in musicology and flute performance. At the age of 22 Chen Xu graduated from Tianiin Conservatory with a Bachelor Degree in Musical Education. He then went on to study at Minzu University of China in Beijing majored in ethnomusicology during his internship he played second flute and piccolo at the China National Opera House Orchestra for many operas, including Maddama Butterfly, La Traviata,Rigoletto, La Sonnambula, the Pearl Fishers, and Lohengrin.

During his flute study Chen Xu studied with Yongxin Wang (Professor at the Central Conservatory ofMusic), Pingping Ma (Professor at Minzu University of China), Yaovao Lu (Principal Flute at the NCPA Orchestra), Hiroshi Matsushima (Professor at College of Music,Mahidol University), Angela Firkins (Professor at Misikhochshule Lübeck)
