Annika Boras is a German-Italian flutist and Haynes Young Artist.
Born in Dachau, Germany, in 2000, she grew up in Lecco, Italy, where she began playing the flute at the age of seven. From 2014 to 2019, she attended the Liceo Scientifico e Musicale “G. B. Grassi” in Lecco and further developed her musical education through the Dentro il Suono programme in Verona, studying with Giampaolo Pretto and Fabio Pupillo.
In January 2020, Annika was admitted to the Hochschule für Musik Trossingen, where she began her Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance with Julie Stewart-Lafin. In October 2021, she transferred to the Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg, continuing her studies with Prof. Henrik Wiese and Timea Acsai. She completed her Bachelor of Music in July 2025 and has since been pursuing a Master of Music at the Leopold Mozart College of Music, University of Augsburg, where she studies with Prof. Martin Belič.
In 2025, Annika was awarded First Prize at the International Flute Competition Giuseppe Gariboldi in Salerno, Italy.
As a soloist, she has performed with orchestras in Germany and Italy, including the Bad Reichenhaller Philharmoniker, with whom she performed Nielsen’s Flute Concerto in 2024 and Mozart’s Flute Concerto in D major, K. 314, in 2026. In November 2025, she performed C. P. E. Bach’s Flute Concerto in D minor with Orchestra Caracciolo in Naples for Falaut AFI. Her previous solo engagements include Poulenc’s Flute Sonata in an orchestral arrangement by Lennox Berkeley, Moscheles’ Concertante in F major for flute and oboe, Mozart’s Concerto for Flute and Harp, K. 299, performed with Swiss harpist Anna Gander after winning the soloist audition at the Brescia Music Summer Courses, and Mozart’s Flute Concerto in D major, K. 314 with the Orchestra Sinfonica del Lario.
Alongside her solo career, Annika is active as an orchestral musician. After completing an orchestral internship with the Augsburger Philharmoniker, she joined the orchestral academy of the Landestheater Coburg in 2025. She regularly performs with orchestras and ensembles including the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, Ensemble Modern, Deutsche Radio Kammerorchester and Camerata Franconia. Through these collaborations, she has worked with conductors such as Matthias Pintscher and Ingo Metzmacher. She is also a member of the Junge Norddeutsche Philharmonie and the Junges Philharmonisches Orchester Niedersachsen.
Since 2021, Annika has been invited to perform at festivals throughout Europe, including the Falaut Festival, the Falaut Campus and the Arte Solidale Festival on Lake Como. She was Artist in Residence at the Falaut Campus in 2022, 2024 and 2026. In 2024 and 2026, she was featured on the CD Giovani Promesse Falaut, a recording dedicated to emerging talents of the Italian flute scene.
Annika performs on a handcrafted Wm. S. Haynes all-engraved 14k gold flute with a 14k gold N-cut headjoint. She is proud to represent the Haynes family as a Haynes Young Artist.
