Annika Boras is a German-Italian flutist. Born in Dachau, Germany, in 2000, she moved to Italy at the age of two and grew up in Lecco, where she began playing the flute at the age of seven. From 2014 to 2019, she attended the Liceo Scientifico e Musicale "G. B. Grassi" while further developing her musical education through the Dentro il Suono programme under the guidance of Fabio Pupillo.
In January 2020, she was admitted to the Hochschule für Musik Trossingen (Germany), where she began her Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance with Julie Stewart-Lafin. In October 2021, she transferred to the Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg to continue her studies with Prof. Henrik Wiese and Timea Acsai. She completed her Bachelor of Music in July 2025 and has since been pursuing a Master of Music at the Leopold Mozart College of Music, University of Augsburg, where she studies with Prof. Martin Belič.
In 2025, Annika was awarded First Prize at the International Flute Competition Giuseppe Gariboldi in Salerno, Italy.
As a soloist, she has appeared with the Bad Reichenhaller Philharmoniker on several occasions, performing Nielsen's Flute Concerto (2024) and Mozart's Flute Concerto in D major, K. 314 (2026). In November 2025, she performed C. P. E. Bach's Flute Concerto in D minor with Orchestra Caracciolo for Falaut AFI. Earlier solo engagements include Poulenc's Flute Sonata (orchestrated by Lennox Berkeley), Moscheles' Concertante in F major for flute and oboe, Mozart's Concerto for Flute and Harp, K. 299, with Swiss harpist Anna Gander after winning the soloist audition at the Brescia Music Summer Courses, and Mozart's Flute Concerto in D major, K. 314 with the Orchestra Sinfonica del Lario.
Alongside her solo career, Annika is an active orchestral musician. After completing an orchestral internship with the Augsburger Philharmoniker, she has been an orchestral academy member at the Landestheater Coburg since May 2025. She performs regularly with renowned German ensembles and orchestras, including the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, Ensemble Moderne, Deutsche Radio Kammerorchester and Camerata Franconia. Through these collaborations, she has worked with distinguished conductors such as Matthias Pintscher and Ingo Metzmacher. She is also a member of the Junge Norddeutsche Philharmonie and the Junges Philharmonisches Orchester Niedersachsen.
Since 2021, Annika has been invited to perform at festivals throughout Europe, including the Falaut Festival, the Falaut Campus—where she was Artist in Residence in 2022, 2024 and 2026—and the Arte Solidale Festival on Lake Como. In 2024, she recorded the CD Giovani Promesse Falaut, featuring a selection of outstanding young flutists.
Annika performs on a handcrafted Wm. S. Haynes all-engraved 14k gold flute paired with a 14k gold N-cut headjoint. She is proud to be a Haynes Young Artist.
