Anna Rabinowicz (born 2000) is a versatile flautist from Australia.

Anna is in her third and final year of study at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) in Melbourne, under the guidance of Alison Mitchell.

Prior to ANAM, Anna graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Performance with Distinction from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, Brisbane in 2021, where she studied with Virginia Taylor. Before this, Anna was taught by Greg Lee, and more recently by Mardi McSullea.

Anna is a WmS Haynes Flutes Young Artist and has distinguished herself in many competitions and prizes. She was a finalist at the 2023 Australian Flute Festival Open Competition; and was also a finalist at the Australian Youth Classical Music Competition in both 2022 and 2023.

Anna is a keen orchestral musician. She is the Principal Flute of the Australian Youth Orchestra (AYO), a regular performer with the AYO’s Momentum Ensemble, and was a fellow of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra in 2023. She has played with many orchestras including the Auckland Philharmonia, Orchestra Victoria, and the West Australian Symphony Orchestra. Some of these concerts have been broadcast on the Australian Digital Concert Hall and ABC Classic FM Radio.

Anna has performed as a concerto soloist at ANAM and the Queensland Conservatorium. She is also an accomplished chamber musician who has played at venues including the Melbourne Recital Centre’s Elisabeth Murdoch Hall. Anna is also a member of the flute and guitar duo Duo Liberta, and of the Melbourne-based flute, viola and harp trio, Violets.

Anna has a wide background in music. She has been a chorister from childhood, and by the age of 16 had achieved her AMEB Grade 8 in flute, violin and piano. While still at school, Anna took part in national and state music programs such as Symphony Australia’s Scholar Conductors’ Program, and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s Secondary Symphony Project.

Anna is passionate about conducting. She has led self-organised ensembles and concerts, and has conducted performances at ANAM and the Queensland Conservatorium. Anna also takes part in the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra’s masterclass programs in conducting.

Anna is bilingual in English and French, and also speaks German. In her spare time, Anna enjoys visiting art galleries and cooking up a storm.

Anna plays a Haynes Custom Fusion Gold Inside Flute, with a 14k/18k Gold wall Headjoint that was hand-crafted by Haynes’ own Aiven O’Leary. Anna is thrilled to be a part of the Wm. S. Haynes Co. family.
