Diane Berger graduated with Merit from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 1990 having studied flute with Rosamund Plummer. Since that time, she has been a permanent member of the Opera Australia Orchestra as Principal Piccolo, resident at the Sydney Opera House.,

In 1992, Diane undertook a sabbatical attending the “Recontres Europeens De La Flute” in Paris, performing for Jean Pierre Rampal, She subsequently attended the Nice Summer International Music Academy having tuition with Alain Marion and Raymond Guiot.

Further studies made possible with scholarships from the Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Trust and the Music Students Overseas Study Foundation (NSW) led to Diane doing Graduate Study at Indiana University (US) with Peter Lloyd (graduating with Distinction).

Diane has also worked with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra as well as the Opera Australia Wind Quintet, Tucana Flute Quartet and Suridi Trio.

Teaching and examining for the Australian Music Examination Board are other musical activities Diane undertakes. Other personal interests include running, with a PB marathon time shorter than the duration of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, ballet, and strength training.
