Carmen Bajo Jurado

Carmen Bajo Jurado is a young Spanish flutist from Córdoba. She completed her Bachelor's studies at the CSM Rafael Orozco, in the class of Prof. Wendela van Swol, and pursued further education at the Barenboim-Said Academy Foundation in Sevilla. Most recently, she finished her Master’s degree at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, studying with Prof. Ulla Miilmann.

Carmen has been a member of several youth ensembles in Spain, including the Orquesta Joven de Andalucía and the Orquesta Joven de Córdoba. At the age of 17, she made her solo debut with the Orquesta de Córdoba, performing Mozart’s Concerto in G major, K. 313.

Since she moved to Northern Europe, she has participated in the recording of the CD Roger Reynolds: Wind Concertos with the Esbjerg Ensemble, which the Danish Broadcasting Corporation awarded in December 2024. She has also collaborated with Norrlandsoperan in Umeå, Sweden, and Copenhagen Phil in Denmark.

As a passionate chamber musician, Carmen is a founding member of the Tesaru Woodwind Quintet, formed in 2021 during their studies at DKDM. The ensemble has performed across Denmark, participated in the VÆKST residency, received third prize at the 2023 P2 Chamber Music Competition, and reached the semifinals of the 2023 Carl Nielsen Chamber Music Competition.

Furthermore, Carmen has just earned a spot in the Advanced Orchestra Specialization program of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Galicia, in Santiago de Compostela, where she will continue to develop her education and professional career with Laurent Blaiteau.
