The Wm. S. Haynes presents Maxence Larrieu in a series of Concerts and Masterclasses

Tickets for the 8 p.m. concert of Maxence Larrieu on March 23 in the Kaplan Penthouse in the Rose Building at Lincoln Center are $20. for adults and $10. for students and seniors and are available through CenterCharge and at the Avery Fisher box office and on the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts website.

The William S. Haynes Company is sad to announce the death of Phillip Kaplan. Mr. Kaplan was hired to the flute section of the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 1939 by Serge Koussevitsky. He retired in 1969. He was a flute professor at Boston University, Boston Conservatory, and New England Conservatory, as well as the former consultant to the William S. Haynes Company from 1950-1987. He was one of the first American flutists to record for numerous labels including RCA, and was a dedicated flute teacher to many of today’s flutists including Marianne Gedegian, Alan Weiss, and Suellen Hershman. He leaves his daughter, Lisa Strader of Hollywood, Florida.

      • Final Concert and Closing Ceremonies - Maxence Larrieu will play his Gold Haynes Flute in the closing concert of the convention.

 

Claudi Arimany and Patrick Dillery to play April 9th Boston Concert

A Bel Canto Concert of Music for Two Flutes and Piano

A concert for two flutes and piano featuring internationally acclaimed flutist Claudi Arimany and Patrick Dillery, a free-lance flutist based in New York City, will take place at First and Second Church, 66 Marlborough St., Boston, Massachusetts, on Thursday April 9th at 7:30 PM. This concert will feature works by J.C. Bach, Mozart, Franz and Anton Doppler and Mendelssohn. This concert is presented in cooperation with the William S. Haynes Flute Company of Boston in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the first Jean Pierre Rampal's 14K gold flute, which is now played by Mr. Arimany.

Claudi Arimany was born in Granollers near Barcelona, Spain. He is considered one of the most prestigious Spanish soloists. He has performed with numerous artists including J.P.Rampal, M.Nordmann, F.Ayo, N. Zabaleta, V. de los Angeles , C.Orbelian, V.Pikaisen, R.Pidoux, John Steele Ritter, J.Suk, A.Nicolet, and J.J. Kantorov. He has performed with many important orchestras such as the English Chamber Orchestra, Berlin Philarmonic Chamber Orchestra, Philharmonia Virtuosi of New York, Franz Liszt Orchestra of Budapest, Israel Sinfonietta, Ensemble Orchestral of Paris, Orchestra Internationale d´Italia, Zagreb Soloists, Munich Bach Orchestra, Moscow Chamber Orchestra, Stuttgart Kammerorchester, China National Symphony Orchestra, Amadeus Chamber Orchestra, Prague Chamber Orchestra, Berliner Kammerorchester and the Czech Philharmonic.

Patrick Dillery is an active free-lance flutist, studio musician, private teacher and clinician. A native of St Paul, Minnesota, he is a graduate of the Ithaca College School of Music and furthered his private studies in France and New York City. He has performed with orchestras and in concert in the USA, Israel, France and England and was for several years principal flutist at Rhein-Main Theater in Frankfurt, Germany where he was also a flutist with the Bayern Kammeropern. He has also been a featured soloist with the Delta Queen Steamboat Co. and Celebrity and Silversea Cruise lines in Europe and Asia. He has been featured on National Public Radio. His new CD "A Flutist's Journey" is a tribute to the many places visited and performed as well as paying homage to his ancestors.

Haynes is excited to introduce 3 new materials!

5% Gold – this material is 95% silver and 5% gold; the wall thickness is .014”.  The price starts at $11,850.  The price for the headjoint is $1,750 and includes a 14k gold riser.

Fusion I – this material is composed of 95% silver and 5% platinum on the outside fused with 14k rose gold on the inside; the wall thickness is .014”.  The price starts at $14,500.  The price for the headjoint is $2,250 and includes a 14k gold riser.

Fusion II – this material is composed of 14k rose gold on the outside fused with 95% silver and 5% platinum on the inside; the wall thickness is .014”.  The price starts at $15,500.  The price for the headjoint is $3,500 and includes a 14k gold riser and lip plate.

We introduced these new materials at the NFA convention in Kansas City , and they have been very well received.  If you are interested in trying one of these exciting new flutes, please contact us to arrange a trial!

Haynes on eBay!

For those of you familiar with eBay, you may have noticed ‘haynesflutecompany’ selling Haynes Concerto flutes on eBay.  We have received many calls asking if we were selling flutes or if this were a hoax, so we wanted to let everyone know that we have been selling some flutes on eBay as “haynesflutecompany”.  We will probably be doing a little more with eBay sales, so if you are an eBay fan, please keep your eyes open for Haynes flutes for sale.

Welcome Zu-feng Le to the Haynes family! Zu-feng Le joins us as Director of Quality Control from the Verne Q. Powell Flute Company. He brings with him vast experience as a flute maker and headjoint maker. Please help us in welcoming Zu-feng Le to Haynes!

1st Place, 14K gold flute: Heather Holden Heather Holden (USA) who studied with Linda Chesis and Alan Weiss and received degrees from the Manhattan School of Music and Boston University. A native of New York, Heather is a member of the award winning flute and guitar Arc Duo as well as the Artist in Residence at the Diller-Quaile School of Music in New York City.

International Flute Festival
Haynes Flutists Alan Weiss and Paul Fried recently participated in the 2004 Shenyang International Flute Festival in China. Also performing recitals and teaching masterclasses were the principal flutist of the China National Symphony, Matti Helen of Finland, Nobutaka Shimuzu of the Kyoto Symphony, and the famous Japanese solo flutist Shigenori Kudo.
